Rubrics

What is a rubric?
A rubric is a tool that teachers or studenst use to evaluate an assessment. Rubrics can be very useful because they often restate the objectives, and make it easier for teachers to assess progress. A rubric is often based on a number scale, which is a range based on understanding or accomplishment of skill.

Why use a rubric?
Rubrics are not only a great tool for teachers but they also help students prepare for assessment. If students are aware ahead of time what they are being assessed on then they will be more likely to be successful at the task. Rubrics also provide explanation to the student as to what they did well and what they need improvement on.
